Parents proud of Belfour’s election to Hockey Hall of Fame

It was a proud day for the parents of Carman’s Ed Belfour who was elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame today.

Belfour, who was raised in Carman, was elected in his first year of eligibility.

The former NHL goalie was chosen for the hall along with forwards Doug Gilmour and Joe Nieuwendyk and defenceman Mark Howe.

His parents, Henry & Alma, who are retired and still live in Carman, were thrilled with news of their son’s election.

‘Wonderful, Exciting’

“It’s wonderful, exciting,” said Alma. “He deserves to be there. Women Ben Roethlisberger Jersey And he’s quite proud of going into the hall with Joe [Nieuwendyk], Premier Evgeni Malkin Jersey Doug Gilmour and Mark Howe.”

Alma said the induction is the culmination of what had been a lifelong dream to someday play in the NHL.

Belfour’s father Henry was just as excited about the pending induction into the hall especially after what was a stellar NHL career.

Belfour won two Vezina Trophies as the NHL’s top goaltender and the Calder Trophy as top rookie during his career, which spanned 17 seasons. He posted 76 shutouts and his win total puts Premier Brent Seabrook Jersey him third on the league’s all-time list among goaltenders.

“We probably always thought he was going to be there [hall of fame] it was just a matter of when,” Henry said.

NFL to go forward with plan for Thursday night games

The National Football League is proceeding with plans to introduce a Thursday night package of prime-time games that could start as Authentic Brent Seabrook Jersey early as the 2012 season.

An increase in the number of networks carrying games will probably lead the current rights holders to seek some sort of concession from the NFL when they negotiate their next contracts after the 2013 television season.
